HP Compaq Presario CQ40-310AU Windows XP Driver



Downgrade Windows Vista to Windows XP.

Windows XP drivers for CQ40-310AU (AMD processor and chipset + HD 3200 graphics) download links and installations order listed below. Please don't skip the steps in order to have a successful installations.

1. Install .Net Framework before others, download from HERE

2. Catalyst Software Suite (for AMD/ATI Chipset, HD 3200 Graphics/Video drivers), download from HERE

3. MS-UAA (install before IDT audio, modem and ATI HDMI drivers), download:

4. IDT High-Definition Audio CODEC Driver,
a)
sp41693, Windows Vista driver, reported works in Windows XP, download from HERE or
b) sp39671, Windows Vista driver, reported works in Windows XP, download from HERE

5. High-Definition Audio (HDA) Modem driver, download from HERE or run Windows Update if it does not work.

6. ATI HDMI Audio Device, download from HERE

7. Broadcom Wireless, download from HERE

8. Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC, download from HERE

9. JMB38X Card Reader Host Controller Driver, download from HERE

10. ENE CIR Receiver (Windows Vista driver), reported works in Windows XP, download from HERE

11. ALPS Touchpad driver, download from HERE or Alps version 6.0.305.11 for XP, download from HERE

12. HP Quick Launch Buttons, download from HERE

13. Bluetooth, download:

14. For 7 unknown devices (buttons drivers), download from HERE

Note: For 7 unknown devices (buttons drivers), do manual installation:

Go to "Device Manager", right click "Unknown Device",
Choose to "Update Driver", No to connect,
Choose "Install from a list or specific location", "Don't search", "Have disk",
Browse to the location of "machine.inf".
Do it for the rest of "Unknown Devices".

Additional Informations:

You might consider these also before installing Windows XP on your CQ40-310AU:

1. Make your Vista Recovery cd/dvd if you haven't yet, found out HERE

2. Your model needs AMD sata driver to be sliptreamed onto Windows XP CD installer. If you did it right, you'll pass BSOD error.

a) Use Nlite to slipstream AMD sata driver. A good guide to sliptream sata driver, HERE

Note: Do NOT use sata driver from that guide, your sata driver is given below.

AMD SATA AHCI Controller driver, download from HERE
or
if you wish an AMD SATA driver from HP site, HERE
Extract sp39719 to a folder and use files in RAID7xx folder or sp40046 for the latest AMD Sata AHCI controller, download from HERE.

Note: Select ONLY x86 driver for AMD SATA AHCI

b)
Nlite, download from HERE.
